Summary Description: The IT Support Specialist is a full-time, benefit-eligible position reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT). This role coordinates the Helpdesk function including overseeing work-study students and creating, monitoring, and tracking Helpdesk tickets. The IT Support Specialist provides technical support for Faculty, Staff, and Students.  In this role, the position provides first line user support for computers, printers, telephones, login/connectivity issues, and standard software such as Microsoft Office, Symantec Anti-virus, educational support software, and administrative software (Datatel Colleague).  This position is a major participant in the configuration and deployment of new computers, monitors, and printers. The position is responsible for updating the equipment inventory for adds/moves/changes/retirements.
Essential Functions:
  • Answer phone calls and walk-in requests related to technology issues and help users with issues.
  • Create work order tickets for all work coming to the department.
  • Track work orders through completion and create weekly work reports.
  • Route work tickets to other members of the department for issues unable to remedy.
  • Coordinate and schedule work study students to augment the Helpdesk. 
Classroom Technology Support
  • Assure availability and functionality of classroom technology including schedule coordination with other department members so that availability is maximized and that rooms are checked prior to the start of classes daily (Monday-Friday).
  • Provide support for computer labs and other shared computer equipment.
Computer Workstation and Printer Deployment
  • Maintain the inventory database to reflect current configuration and deployment of all technology capital hardware
  • Create standard deployment images and coordinate initial software loads for new/re-deployed desktop and laptop computers
  • Perform maintenance and repair on workstation hardware
  • Maintain Windows policy structures for deployment and control of software licenses, printer configurations, workstation updates, anti-virus protection, and other software functions as authorized by the Director of Information Technology
  • Hardware projects in Information Services department: provide initial software build (new hardware) and repair (for hardware brought into department).
  • Provide classroom training in standard software products as time allows to faculty, staff and/or students
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to contribute to technology support of the College community.
  • Be present in the office on a daily basis unless arrangements are made with the employee’s direct supervisor.
  • Contribute to the support and implementation of the College Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in Warner Pacific College professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in supporting Microsoft Windows workstations including operating system, hardware, network, and printing issues. 
  • Experience with Active Directory including development and deployment of GPO policies.
  • Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to actively communicate with various constituents, including, faculty, staff, administration, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals including students from first generational, diverse, and urban environments.
  • Valid driver’s license; local travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A four year degree is highly preferred. 
  • A degree in a technical field preferred. 
  • Microsoft MCP and A+ hardware certification preferred.
