Summary Description:  The Campus Safety Supervisor is a full-time, benefit-eligible position reporting to the Vice President of Finance. This role supervises all campus safety and security activities, and supervises campus safety and security staff; develops and implements procedures for campus safety, including situation management, campus safety officer certification, access management, uniforms, patrol, communication and reporting; and supports the Emergency Response Team, assisting in training and testing of the plan.  The Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for testing of building safety systems and fire and life safety inspections. In addition, this role supports the maintenance staff as needed for minor repairs and activities.
Essential Functions:
  • Supervise all campus safety and security activities at all campus locations.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and schedule campus safety and security staff.
  • Manage the Emergency Response Plan, including plan updates, documentation, training and testing.
  • Responsible for management of all access control equipment.
  • Responsible for completion of federal, state and local reporting requirements, including annual Clery Act reports.
  • Communicate with public agencies and regulators, including police agencies, fire inspectors and responders, and community safety committees.
  • Maintain records for keys and access cards, create and issue keys and access cards, and perform repairs as needed to maintain campus access control, per the College access control policy.
  • Develop and implement procedures for campus safety, including situation management, campus safety officer certification, access management, uniforms, patrol, communication, and reporting.
  • Support the Emergency Response Team in training and testing of the plan.
  • Perform testing of building safety systems and fire and life safety inspections.
  • Supports the maintenance staff as needed for minor repairs and activities.
  • Serve as event set-up and facilities coordination as needed.
  • Contribute to the support and implementation of the College Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in Warner Pacific College professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a structured law enforcement or security position, preferably in a campus environment.
  • Certification in specialized security training, such as Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or the ability to obtain.
  • Ability to operate a computer, with demonstrated skills with Word and Excel programs.
  • Valid drivers’ license.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, with the ability to actively communicate with various constituents, including faculty, staff, administration, and the general public.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation, employment, physical and driving records investigation.
  • Ability to work on weekends, nights and occasional overtime, with the ability to respond to the campus when needed to assist campus safety personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a campus higher education environment.
