Summary Description:  The Office of Advancement carries out the major fundraising efforts of the University. The Director of Alumni Relations is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Relations.  This role is responsible for the planning and implementation of programming to engage alumni in the strategic efforts of the University as well as increasing annual fund support. These efforts also include cultivating current students to transition to active alumni through coordination with campus career services and mentoring programs. This position will also manage a portfolio of annual fund donors in support of annual and campaign fundraising goals.
 
Essential Functions: 
  • Manage a designated portfolio of annual fund donors and/or prospective donors and generate 15% of the yearly fundraising revenue (including annual fund and campaign goals). This includes: maintaining communication with donors (at least 2 personal contacts per year), adding 50 new donors annually, coordinating donor visits to campus and opportunities to meet with students.
  • Design and implement all activities to engage alumni in mentoring, volunteering, recruiting and annual giving. This includes, but is not limited to: planning and executing networking, educational and social events; maintaining regular communication, including surveys on interests and employment; keeping contact information updated.
  • Partner with Director of Admissions to include alumni in the recruiting and admissions process, and enrollment activities including Campus Open House, New Student Registration and Move-In. Partner with the Director of Student Services to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni, and other activities.
  • Manage the Alumni Mentoring Program, including recruiting mentors and coordinating with student services and enrollment staff to recruit student participants.
  • Serve as a liaison to the WP Alumni Advisory Board, providing staff support and assist in the development, participation, and facilitation of the planning and organization of committee activities.
  • Coordinate Alumni Advisory Board meetings, agendas and distribution of minutes; contribute to the development of the board’s annual action plans.
  • Assume primary responsibility for planning Founder’s Week programming and activities. This includes collaborating with VP of Advancement and Marketing & Communications department to incorporate the fall appeal, and collaborating with Student Services to plan campus activities.
  • Assume primary responsibility for all Homecoming Weekend programming and activities. This includes collaborating with Student Services and Athletics to plan the weekend activities and planning decade alumni celebrations.
  • Develop and implement an annual strategy for regional and local off-campus alumni gatherings and networking events, including targeted events to engage Adult Degree Program alums.
  • Collect and edit alumni updates for The Experience, and collaborate with the marketing team in identifying WPU alums for features and profiles in each edition.
  • Plan annual Senior Graduation Celebration to welcome new graduates of the University to the Alumni program.
  • Develop an event targeted at freshman to build University affinity and awareness of the alumni office.
  • Oversee and balance the budget for Alumni Relations.
  • Work with Digital Marketing Strategist to maintain, monitor, and develop the alumni connections pages on the Warner Pacific University web and social media sites. 
General Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in Advancement Department meetings and serve on campus committees as requested or appointed.
  • Oversee and adhere to University policies and procedures regarding fundraising, procurement, and budget management.
  • Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution.
  • Commitment to the mission of Warner Pacific University as a Christ-centered, urban, Liberal Arts University affiliated with the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana.
  • Experience in higher education advancement, alumni relations, or annual giving.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization including internal and external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
  • Strong personal initiative and ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate the University’s distinct mission in a compelling and winsome way.
  • Proficient in computer programs including Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel, and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years’ experience in higher education alumni relations and/or annual giving.
  • Three years’ supervisory experience. 
Physical Demands – Work Environment: 
The position is located in a typical office environment.  Professional/business casual attire is required.
