Instructor of Nursing and Simulation Coordinator
Summary Description:
The Instructor of Nursing and Simulation Coordinator is a registered nurse who supports the nursing simulation and skills laboratories by assisting faculty with the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based learning activities. This is an instructor position; 75% of the load is dedicated to the simulation coordinator activities (18 credit load release) and 25% of the load (6 credits) is dedicated to course instruction. Working collaboratively with faculty, the Instructor of Nursing and Simulation Coordinator helps facilitate learning experiences that support student achievement of course outcomes, AACN (2021) Essentials, NCLEX readiness, clinical judgment, patient safety competencies, and program outcomes. The Instructor of Nursing and Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the upkeep of simulation equipment, supplies, standardized patients, simulation technologies, skills laboratories, simulation-based clinical replacement experiences, faculty support related to simulation, and compliance with INACSL Standards of Best Practice, CCNE standards, and Oregon State Board of Nursing regulations.

Primary Job Duties:
- Teach assigned nursing courses (6 credits per year) within the Prelicensure BSN curriculum.
- Coordinate simulation and skills laboratory activities across all levels of the Prelicensure BSN curriculum.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to design, implement, revise, and evaluate simulation scenarios aligned with course outcomes, AACN (2026) Essentials, and QSEN competencies; maintain compliance with INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice; and support CCNE accreditation and Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) regulatory compliance activities.
- In collaboration with nursing faculty assist with simulation pre-briefing, simulation experiences, and debriefing using evidence-based methodologies.
- In collaboration with nursing faculty, assist with the development of realistic simulation experiences that promote clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and patient safety.
- Prepare simulation and skills laboratories, equipment, supplies, and standardized patients to support laboratory and simulation learning activities.
- Maintain organization of the simulation and skills laboratories, ensuring equipment, supplies, and teaching materials are properly stored, inventoried, and readily accessible.
- Monitor simulation supply inventories and coordinate purchasing recommendations.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of high-fidelity simulators, audiovisual systems, task trainers, and simulation technology.
- Assist when needed with development and implementation of simulation policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain simulation laboratory schedules and coordinate simulation space utilization in accordance with the Dean of Nursing.
- Support nursing faculty in simulation technology, simulation facilitation, and debriefing best practices.
- Support student remediation, competency validation, and skills laboratory activities.
- Collect and maintain simulation utilization data, student participation records, and assessment information.
- Support orientation activities, open laboratory sessions, student skills workshops, and university-wide events.
- Following each laboratory, simulation, and skills session, restores and maintains the simulation and skills laboratories in a clean, organized, and patient-ready condition.
- Participate in professional organizations and maintain current knowledge of simulation standards and best practices.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
- Understand and promote the mission, vision, values, and core themes of Warner Pacific University.
- Adhere to University policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate commitment to a Christian liberal arts education and professional nursing program by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse license.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential or eligibility (upon hire)
- Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
- Two years’ experience in simulation-based education, nursing skills instruction, clinical instruction, or healthcare education.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College teaching or clinical instruction experience.
- Knowledge of AACN (2026) Essentials, INACSL Standards of Best Practice, CCNE accreditation standards, and Oregon State Board of Nursing regulations.
