Summary Description: The Admission Counselor is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Director of Admissions. This role serves as a member of the Admissions Office. This position is primarily responsible for identifying, engaging, and recruiting prospects to the University to achieve its enrollment goals. Through the Director of Admissions, the Admission Counselor is responsible for managing specific recruitment markets, presenting information to diverse audiences, participating in recruitment events, and managing student information.
Primary Job Duties:
- Implement recruitment strategies for assigned markets to generate inquiries, applications and deposits that lead to achieving individual enrollment goals.
- Proactively develop and maintain relationships with prospective undergraduate students throughout the recruiting lifecycle (Inquiry, Applicant, Admit, Deposit, and Enrolled).
- Review admission applications, evaluate credentials, and make decisions accordingly for all applicants to meet enrollment goals.
- Ensure student data is accurate and all communication with students, including email correspondence, phone calls, messages, and campus visits are entered in the University’s CRM system. This includes meeting daily goals for emails and phone calls.
- Provide guidance to students and families regarding admission requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid and scholarship information, student standards, lifestyle agreement, campus life, etc.
- Coordinate recruitment events, which include planning, organizing, and executing activities, to attract prospective students, such as high school visits, college fairs, campus tours, and on-campus events.
- Develop and apply knowledge of university-wide admissions and recruitment programs and practices.
- Develop and deliver presentations to diverse audiences including high school students, parents, community college students, faculty, etc.
- Work collaboratively across internal university departments to facilitate the admissions process, including coordinating conversations between prospective students and faculty, staff, or coaches when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including high school counselors, community organizations, community college representatives, and educational partners to promote the university and support prospective students.
- Conduct travel for admissions-related events.
- Abide by NACAC and NACCAP Principles of Good Practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree required.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work longer hours during busier recruitment/admissions periods, which includes evenings and weekends.
- Must be self-motivated, have excellent written communication skills, and the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Must have excellent oral communication and public presentations skills.
- Proficient in computer programs including Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel, and navigating the internet.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluent in Spanish language, both conversational and written.
- Experienced with using the Slate CRM system.

The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
